The Keeneland Concours d’Elegance is a four-day event featuring a collection of 100 of the most rare and pristine automobiles from all over the world. Over and above this collection of 100 cars is also the paddock area where another 200 cars from the area are shown. All proceeds from the event go to support The Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Of special interest to TMC members is that TMC:SE member Tom Jones is the event Chairman. Our thanks and congratulations go out to Tom and his wife Connie for an absolutely fabulous event!
This year there were some of the rarest cars in the world including four Maserati’s from the Southeast chapter of TMC. Three of the cars caravanned from Knoxville Tennessee to Lexington on Friday where the Dempsey’s hosted a Friday evening dinner with fellow TMC members and spouses. Just happen to drink a little bit of wine also. The weather was fabulous and the setting of the Keeneland racetrack was perfect for all the cars.
On Sunday, 50 classic cars, including the Maserati’s enjoyed a 75 mile tour of the beautiful Bluegrass Region of central Kentucky. The tour included a drive through one of the famous Kentucky horse farms, Shadwell Farm and a visit to Shaker village where participants were served a catered lunch and a tour of the 1800’s Shaker settlement.
The Show in 2009 will again be four days with the show being on Saturday, July 19th. For more pictures of the event and news about the 2009 Keeneland Concours d’Elegance please visit : www.keenelandconcours.com
